Celebrities get into the garden

Just had to share this feel-good piece of news with you to brighten your Monday morning.

Yes TO Carrots recently joined forces with celebrities Nicole Ritchie and Amy Smart and a bunch of LA teenagers to launch a local initiative to build organic gardens in under-privileged areas.

The idea is to support organic gardens and greenery in urban schools across L.A. and to educate people about sustainable food sources through celebrity mentoring.

Members of the mentoring board include Amy Smart and Nicole Richie (pictured), Maroon 5, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Rosario Dawson, Maria Menounos, Matthew Rhys, Lance Bass, Emily VanCamp, Anna Getty, Olivia Wilde, Carter Oosterhouse and others.

Each board member will adopt a school to raise awareness for the program and help kids with environmental education.

Coming from someone who would love nothing more than to have an organic garden patch to play with (damn inner city living) I think this is an awesome idea. Not only does it create fresh, healthy, organic produce for but it teaches kids how to nurture things. Kudos to the celebs involved! There's a lot to be gained from getting back to nature like fresh air and a feeling of peace - something they could definitely do with in Hollywood!

So why not take a leaf out of their book (pun intended!) and get back to nature for an hour this weekend. You'll feel better for it!
