Do you need to see a naturopath?

You've heard about them and maybe even met one but just what do naturopaths do and how can they help you in winter? Naturopath and SheSaid expert, Karen Ansell, gives us the lowdown.

A Naturopath specialises in looking at the body as a whole system and treating the individual. Naturopaths look to find the root of the cause of imbalances in the body and work to strengthen vitality and the innate immune system so that the body can fight disease and prevent future illness. It is often educational and empowering what you may learn about health from a Naturopath so think of seeing a Naturopath as a good investment. After all, your Health is your Wealth!!

It is great to see a Naturopath not just in times of illness, but for a wellness consultation for a plan to optimise health. Naturopaths can help to support some acute illnesses such as colds and flu’s, they can support chronic illnesses, or see a Naturopath to help you to stay on track with fine tuning your nutrition or for a good wellness plan. A Naturopath can assist the health of your whole family. Whether you want to boost energy, improve digestion, balance hormones, moods, skin health, boost immunity, pre-conception, pregnancy, weight management, sexual health disorders, stress and anxiety management, sleeping problems, and so much more!

‘Naturopath’ is an umbrella term. Naturopaths are often highly qualified as Nutritionists & Medical Herbalists, and have University Health Science Degrees. Some may also be qualified as Homoeopaths and Remedial Massage. Naturopaths are highly trained to prescribe simple & effective wellness programs to fit in with your busy lifestyle and individual needs. There are many ways to formulate a treatment plan.

Treatment plans may include dietary advice or using “food as medicine”, lifestyle support, herbal medicine in liquid, capsule, tablet, or powdered form; vitamins and minerals; topical herbal creams and balms; or Medicine for the Emotions - Homoeopathy or Australian Bush Flower Essence remedies. Integrative medical testings may be recommended by your Naturopath to gain further insight into your health. Naturopaths use evidence based nutritional herbs & supplements of the highest quality and are passionately involved in keeping up to date with the latest medical research.

Find a qualified Naturopath that you are comfortable communicating with and ask how they may be able to assist you with any health concerns or health goals you may have. You and your family may find long lasting benefits from seeing a Naturopath!
