How To Colour Your Hair At Home Like A Pro

Confession: I've only ever used Nice'n Easy when colouring my hair at home, because I love the results so much! So I was thrilled to get celebrity hairdresser (and Nice'n Easy fan) Belinda Jeffery's tips on DIY hair colour!

“By adding dimension to your hair colour, you’re making a subtle change that can make a big difference, without a dramatic colour change,” says Belinda Jeffrey.

1. Shade
When looking for a shade, always choose close to your natural base colour, and only ever 2 shades lighter or darker.

2. Skin tone
Your complexion is the key to making the right colour choice. If you have an ivory or creamy coloured skin, you can be as adventurous as you like. However, if you have a pale pink-toned or ruby complexion choose neutrals such as ash blonde, ash brown or dark brown.

3. Prep
Before applying Nice’n Easy colour, use some papaw or gel around your hairline to prevent staining on the skin and that ‘just coloured’ look.

4. Roots
When touching up roots, always begin at the nape of the neck and work your way up to the front and hairline.

5. Post-dye care
A must-use product is the Clairol Nice’n Easy Colour Seal Gloss Treatment. The conditioning treatment comes in the pack, and leaves hair soft and shiny – plus it seals the hair shaft and locks in colour.

6. Ease of use
If you find you need more control when applying the colour, try using Nice’n Easy Colour Blend Foam – the texture of the foam makes it easier to apply as the non-drip formula prevents unwanted colour movement.

Are you a fan of colouring your hair at home, or do you prefer going to the hairdresser?
