Katy Perry Opens Up On Her Divorce From Russell Brand

Katy Perry opens up about why she and Russell Brand divorced after only 14 months of marriage, admitting that she did everything she could to save their relationship.

In her new movie Part of Me, Perry, 27, reveals what went wrong in her short-lived marriage to Brand, 37.

In typical Hollywood fashion, the singer says her busy touring schedule took its toll on their relationship, despite using days off to take trips to see Brand.

She also admitted that her burgeoning music career was a source of tension between her and the British comedian.

"I thought to myself, 'When I find that person that's going to be my life partner, I won't ever have to choose [between the partner and my career]…they won't be threatened or have weird motives," Perry says. "Then I started to realise, that's not true. That fairytale I had is not true for me right now."

In one scene in the movie, Perry is seen sobbing uncontrollably backstage, minutes before she is about to start a show. She then pulls herself together before hitting the stage.

The singer says she did everything she could to save her marriage. "I have that same belief system with everything, from career to my life to my personal life, everything. And I will do everything it takes to not fail. And I did everything it took but it still failed."
