Not only is the story of Black Swan utterly captivating, but the film itself is a visual feast, from the ballet costumes to Natalie Portman's striking makeup. The beauty world is abuzz with how to recreate her stage-worthy Black Swan look, but how can you translate it into something more everyday wearable? The film's makeup artists Margie Durand and Judy Chin show us how.

The key is to go for a vampish, 1920's look and stick to either striking eyes or lips for an everyday look. Margie and Judy used MAC products.

Eyes
"Create the smoky Black Swan eye with a slender, silver line — over the eyelid, too — that follows the wing shape we created for Portman," says Margi. "Rim the waterline with black liner and top it off with full feathery false lashes."

Face
"Apply a very matte foundation with contoured cheekbones and a hint of shimmery blush on apples of the cheeks." Judy recommend creating contours along the cheekbones, nose and jaw line by applying darker blush or bronzer just below the cheekbones and down the sides of the nose. Finish with a highlighter on top of the cheekbones and down the front of the nose to create the illusion of stronger bone structure, just like in Black Swan.

Lips
"Lips can be matte or glossy in dark eggplant, wine, or even black."
