Which Australian City Made Lonely Planet's Top 10 List?

Every year Lonely Planet publish their list of top 10 cities to visit, and this year's list includes one Australian city - and it's definitely not what you think!

1. New York
Who wouldn't want to visit the city that never sleeps? New York should always be on the top 10 list!
2. Tangier
This Moroccan city is full of bright colours, great food and only 3 hours from Europe.
3. Tel Aviv
A chilled out city with great nightlife, long beaches and seaside restaurants.
4. Wellington
Definitely one for all Australians to visit, this pretty town has cute shops and great places to eat.
5. Valencia
The home of paella, this southern Spanish town is crisscrossed with beautiful boulevards and tiny lanes.
6. Iquitos
I had to look this one up. Iquitos is the largest city in the Peruvian rainforest so this would definitely be a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
7. Ghent
Stunning old-world architecture, this town in Flanders Belgium is made for strolling around, with a hot waffle in hand!
8. Delhi
If you've always wanted to visit India, Lonely Planet recommend starting in Delhi, acclimatising to the sounds, speed and tasty treats of the capital.
9. NewcastleB
OK this got me by surprise! 2 hours north of Sydney, the town best known as a steel port has cleaned up its act, with long beaches to idle the day away, and a cute cafe near the train station...but, is it up there with the world's best? I don't agree.
10. Chiang Mai
While most Aussie tourists head south to the beaches of Koh Samui and Phuket, make sure you head north to Chiang Mai for a truer version of the country and its people.
