Bar of the Week, Verde Restaurant & Bar, East Sydney
Located within an impressive heritage listed building, a recent renovation has glammed up the inside without tarnishing the elegant Victorian exterior of the building. A stylish new addition in Sydney's 'Little Italy', Verde's chocolate-coloured first floor lounge combines lush leather couches and ottomans with wooden floorboards and a seriously well stocked bar.
Spicy Italian versions of classic cocktails are on offer. Try Verde's original 'Saffron Martini' - a fiery invention using gin, Strega Liqueur and saffron threads. If you've got the munchies, Italian tapas style bar snack are on offer including grilled Italian sausages or prosciutto with grilled bread. But for something more substantial, venture to the adjoining downstairs restaurant for a traditional Italian dish, like the hearty Pasta Casalinga made with 'Giovanna’s Traditional Pork Shank Sauce', meatballs and spaghetti.
