Alkaline have been taking a holistic approach to health and beauty issues for years. They have their own fully qualified naturopaths and nutritionists who work with you to discuss where it may be that you have lost your way. At Alkaline, they look at the whole package, not just your dry or spotty skin. Their menu sounds like a whole new world of treatments from Endermologie – for cellulite reduction, to Formostar – for pain management and detox and Hemaview – live blood screening as well as fabulous massages and eyebrow styling (and I mean styling!)
I was there for something equally out of this world – a VLA Bioimpedance Analysis. What the? Alkaline VLA ™ is a non-invasive tool for measuring your body composition. From the findings you are provided with dietary and lifestyle tools to help improve your general wellbeing, increase your energy levels and address any specific issues that may arise. It also means your naturopath will connect leads to your hands and feet and press a button to pass a low voltage electrical current through your body. Sounds painful – I didn’t even know it had happened – in fact, I said ‘is that it?’. My naturopath then printed out my report, which detailed fat to muscle ratio, hydration levels (both inside and outside the cells), the quality of muscle tissue, and my cellular age. She talked through my results and offered advice where I asked for it. I wasn’t pushed into buying a new cream for my décolletage or a new treatment for my elbows. Eat Fit Food
When I look at my eating habits over a week, they're not too impressive, even for someone who likes to cook and eat well. Takeaways, expensive weekday lunches, boozy dinners with friends and occassionally just going hungry because I can't be bothered preparing myself anything. I've always been intrigued by the 'as seen on TV' food home delivery services so finally gave the idea a go. Eat Fit Food is enjoyed by a stack of celebs like Hugh Jackman and Lara Bingle and that was enough to convince me! Actually, the food is amazing. For my first week I had the most incredible Bircher muesli with biodynamic yoghurt, perfectly medium-rare roast beef with potatoes and asparagus and a more-ish chicken and leek casserole. All the meat was succulent and the vegies crisp and fresh - nothing like those gluggy microwavable dinners. Plus the portions are huge and the meals are delivered to your door every morning - no excuse not to eat healthy and deliciously. I'm now eyeing off the 10 day detox plan (before we hit the silly season) and I'm gifting my friend that's just had a baby the New Mum program!
