SheSaid Ford Focus Blogger: Elke
When we put the call out to see who wanted to road test the brand-new Ford Focus for a week, we didn't expect to be so inundated! The first of our bloggers, Elke Braithwaite shares her week with Candy, her beautiful new car.

I am a SheSaid competition winner and received a Ford Focus from Ford Australia for a week long test drive.
Oh my goodness! The new Ford Focus Titanium just arrived and I’m itching to get out and play with all the fancy functions (seriously, this car has auto everything!). Two more hours of work to go and then it is time to take it for a spin. For the first time ever, I am not upset about the impending peak hour traffic. Bring it on!
Perfect timing to have access to this gorgeous car! It’s been raining cats and dogs all day long! Headed out to catch a gig at Trak on the Southside of the Yarra. Never been happier to sit in traffic. Totally entertained and cocooned by the little red beast! Crank up that radio!
Preparing for a Grand Final Day BBQ requires some serious supermarket missions. Silly me, forgot the key ingredient for my lemon slice. I think a little self-sabotaging is happening – happily jump back in the car for round two!
Amazing pick-up on this little engine, it is so go-ey and super easy to manoeuver. Great news for those of us who are 8 months pregnant!! Parallel parking has never been simpler! I find myself keenly looking out for spots to test the cars’ mad skills. It never fails to amaze.
Take a little trip up to Studley Park on a beautiful spring day. ‘Candy’ loves the winding roads and the parking sensors help me squeeze into a tight spot in the heaving car-park. Phew. Crank the awesome stereo on the way back and take full advantage of the sunroof for maximum springtime pleasure!
Having flattened my fair share of car batteries by leaving lights on, I am grateful for the gentle reminder that my parker lights are on and LOVE the fact that I can turn off the car but finish rocking out to my favourite tracks, right up until I open the door to get out! So fun!
Blergh. Monday mail-outs are always a mission. Manage to get the many and varied boxes and bags sorted in the spacey boot and score a rock-star park outside the post office! Win!
My sister just discovered the seat heaters! We are in total luxury right now – do not want to get out of the car, so snug!
Road trip to Geelong tonight! So excited to show the fam my brand new (temporary) car! The jealousy is palpable. Such a smooth ride, and even managed to keep my little nephew occupied by opening up the sun-roof. He was thrilled to see a flock of pelicans fly overhead and feel the breeze on his face. Bless.
Fit the whole family in to head out for family dinner. All very comfy and endlessly pressing buttons like little kids at Christmas.
Deceptively large boot has delivered once again. Fit in the new cot for ‘the Bean’ (baby) along with all the fittings and mattress, without a fuss. Still had room for the child car seat to drive back to Melbourne with my nephew! Lucky. He wasn’t so keen on walking…
It’s my last day with ‘Candy’. Get a little melancholic about giving it back to be honest. Went out for a spin this morning – had to make up a reason to my boss…”I need to check the P.O. Box!” and then off I went! Opened up the sunroof and let the wind play with my hair. This car would be a dream for summer drives to the beach!
What a week it’s been. I had such a blast with this little red beast – took it out on the open road for a trip to Geelong, got stuck in about 5 hours of peak hour traffic (most of which, oddly enough, I enjoyed thanks to the plethora of bits and bobs and gadgets to discover!).
