Would you own 500 pairs of shoes if you could?

So singer Fergie has admitted that she owns over 500 pairs of shoes.

The Black Eyed Peas lead singer says "I'm a girl, and I love accessories. It's one of the reasons I have huge closets, and we keep making room in the house for more closets. I don't like to throw anything away."

So we know she is rich and she likes fashion and wants to spoil herself but is 500 pairs of shoes going overboard? Is that just plain excessive or does she have every right to buy whatever she wants?

Should she be using the money for a better cause than to jazz up her feet or would you do exactly the same thing if you had her bank account.

Discuss!

Noooo, let a woman buy shoes! I would love to have 500 pairs of shoes - and still do my part supporting charities throughout the year. If you can afford to have some luxuries, why the *bleep* not! I'm sure someone like Fergie supports a lot of charities along the way as well. Why condemn people who have the funds to purchase such items, because I'm sure, like most celebrities, she contibutes more than enough to worthwhile causes as well - but that doesn't make the news as much as how much they spend on accessories!

I agree with Sarsi, she has said all that I wanted to say. If I could own 500 shoes, I definitely would too. (And give to charity on the side of course).

500 is a bit much, but i guess if you give them away to charities to raise money for causes or recycle them through other means, then that's ok.
Now, Imelda Marcos on the other hand....Grrr , i don't even want to go there.

I personally own over 600 pairs of shoes. Frankly my personal dream goal is to get to the 1,000 pair mark. It's funny because when I owned 300 pairs of shoes, my goal was to get to the 500 pair mark.I obviously don't believe she has too many pairs of shoes. I think as a woman it is a priviledge and frankly more of a necessity (in regards to community social engagements/functions obligations) to have more variety at hand, than penny pinching and shopping aggressively to find something to wear at the last minute, especially if you are primarily going to see the same group of people the majority of the time. Nevertheless, I just think it's fashionably fun and a hobby for me also. I think it's HER hard earned money and she should be able to splurge on herself as she sees fit....Hell, why should she deprive herself? Why should I tell her how to spend HER income...she isn't responsible for maintaining MY livelihood. But remember though, as a celebrity, she likely got all of her shoes as gifts/free (to use as marketing tactics), from photo shoots, from her stylist, and bought the rest. Now how did I get so many pairs of shoes? It did take me approximately 10 years to accumulate my shoe collection.....Fergie probably got her many pairs of shoes in a matter of 6-24 months considering the many ways celebrities get so many pairs of shoes, clothing or other accessories which I've mentioned before. But well....assuming she bought them all, I don't think it's fair to dictate what she spend

CONT....I don't think it's fair to dictate what she spends her money on. She could have spent her money on more bizarre, pointless and questionable things (like some celebrities do...and it's still not my business for me to dictate). At least she can wear her shoes through out the rest of her life....shoes don't get repo'd or foreclosed on.

WHY?
vanity addiction/obsession to the extreme...i cant comprehend it at all...beyond all reasoning and unjustifiably selfish

Shoes 'per se' can be a necessity, a luxury or an addiction...but 500 pairs are obscene.
Great times or wonderful holidays with family over 'soulless' hordes of shoes anyday.
