Gisele Bundchen says sunscreen is poison!

Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen has sparked controversy again (remember her breastfeeding comments a few months ago?) by saying that sunscreen is poison.

"I cannot put this poison on my skin,” she told reporters. "I do not use anything synthetic." Her approach is to avoid being in the sun after 8am.

What do you think? Do you think her comments are dangerous to young women who look up to her or are you concerned about the chemicals in sunscreen too?

So, she doesn't want to use anything synthetic or to put poison on her skin!-that's from someone that used to smoke one and a half packets of cigarettes a day, before she gave them up in 2010...and ate cheeseburgers all the time.
Great ambassador yeh right!-she hasnt got a leg to stand on with her "personal ideas" on sunscreens,
oh and by the way-as a model and Victoria's Secrets 'angel', the biggest poison to put on her skin is MAKEUP...it's full of synthetic chemicals and ingredients
tsk tsk tsk Gisele, you are totally wrong this time with sunscreen-
ps...send her some brochures from the anti-cancer council/foundation who advocate the SLIP,SLOP,SLAP CAMPAIGN

This woman needs to watch what she says, sure she is entitled to her opinion but her fans mostly young women already think a tan is sexy and sunscreen is "the enemy". Please be careful in the sun there's no turning back with sun damage! Love the colour you are!!

im a huge fan of natural skincare products and it just sounds to me like she is too... not wanting to use synthetic sunscreen isnt exactly saying sunscreen is bad!!! it just sounds to me like she has a preferance and wasnt asked to elaborate

Well with celebs anything u say gets put out there.... if u were famous and said something u regret it would already be out there.... everyone says something silly from time to time... celebs just always get caught out.

Albany... I am in Noranda at the moment but we r moving to albany sat morning so it is just set as that... 5 hr drive with bubz ...hubby is driving the truck with everything in it! hope it all fits!!!

I agree that most of the sunscreen stuff sold is poison with rubbish fillers. I use Invisible Zinc which is one of the better options with none of the nasties in it. But to say you are avoiding anything synthetic means you would need to cease existing on this Earth just about!

I agree whole heartedly with her.. all the chemicals we use have to have a long term effect on our health. our skin absorbs that gunk and its our biggest living organ.. why feed it rubbish ... im all for natural and sensible beauty.. young women do not heed any info they dont want to hear.. dont smoke, dont binge drink etc they all do it to excess...

I am not agreeing with her at all because we all know that there is no such thing as a natural make up or skin care except for prodcts like witchhazel and tea tree oil etc, but what I will say is that when I wear suncreen 30+ my skin burns even more. I have very fair skin with freckles and moles and have it checked regularly and have a lot of skin damage from the sun...with sunscreen and covering up... I think sunscreen helps but is not the be all and end all that we think it is. If we are going to talka bout poisons well nothing we eat or drink is free from checmicals nor is the air we breathe...so what is the answer?

I must admit that I hate the feel of sunscreen but staying out of the sun after 8:00am doesn't... really work for me. I'm not a vampire!
