Tribute to Professor Chris O'Brien

When I woke up to hear the news that Prof Chris O'Brien had passed away I had a little cry. I was so devastated that such a good man could be taken away so early, it's just unfair.

They held a state funeral for the RPA doctor today at Sydney's St Mary's Cathedral and a former patient of his, Paul Cave, said this which I just had to share because it is so true:

"Chris reached into people, not only did he cut out the bad bits but he put some good bits back in. You actually thought that he had transplanted some of himself in to you."

What an amazing man he was.

Cyberknife cancer treatment

My wife had breast cancer and beat it. She then got secondaries in the brain. 9 tumours, no hope said the doctors in Australia. But we found Cyberknife overseas. She went once and had this treatment over a few days. 9 mths later had scans and still 4, yippee they had gotten rid of 5. So off she went again. Had Cyberknife in USA for the second time. Came back, was successful. 6 mths later she died of liver failure due to the treatments used in Australia that weaken the body.

Now if we had known about Cyberknife and she had been able to have it earlier I feel things would be different. Cyberknife uses no drugs, no side effects, no healthy organs harmed (such as liver) accurate, treats kids. Why have we not heard of this in Australia. Why dont we have it in Australia. I am rectifying this. I have a Facebook group - bring Cyberknife to Australia with over 700 members (doctors, patients, families etc) and a petition to get it to Australia. Wont help us but may help others
www.facebook.com/

Should children be allowed in bars?

News.com.au is reporting that Anisa Duniam, 27, was asked to leave the upstairs wine bar Das Zimmer at Salamanca on Friday at 5.30pm because her 10-month-old baby Hugo did not fit with their adults-only house policy.

She's up in arms about it but what do you think? Should have she been allowed to stay?

I tend to agree with the bar! They are responsible for people in it and if anyone was to accidentally spill a drink on the baby etc then it would be their fault. It's the law, not discrimination.

working from home -scam or not? moral issues.

so, I am experiencing moral dilemma here...
As saying goes curiosity killed the cat....and i went and paid for those "work at home - data entry" positions. I just needed to know what it's all about!
Anyways, it turns out to be that i have to place positions ads online (ads already provided in the "training material, variations allowed), get peoples interest and then when they contact me reply to them describing the position in the "most" vague way adding that the "initial admin and training material" will cost them, (i had to determine how much i wanted to charge them) and if they decided to proceed and pay then I email them the exact same "training material" i received with the same instructions so they will have to go to through the same procedure as myself to get money.
well, here is my dilemma...
I received so many people's resumes and interest and I feel so bad in a way misleading them with this as I feel their pain. I always wanted a data entry/typing work form home while i was at uni or even now as extra cash.
I feel like they expect a real job and when they get this "training material" it will most likely upset them ( im only assuming that based on what I think I would/ have felt)
HOWEVER, saying that...they could actually make because if you think about it well if they pay me = i made money then they follow the steps next person will pay them? right?
is it even legal?

How to have Positively Radiant skin

I get alot of comments about my skin so I thought I would share my tips to positively radiant skin:

For Faces

1 - Choose an appropriate cleanser i.e. if you want to reduce pores, wash with a pore reducing cleanser. if you get recurring breakouts, use an acne prone cleanser.

2- tone tone tone. this is an important step to sooth and "close" your pores after opening them with a cleanser. I used to buy whatever toner matched the cleanser I was buying but I received a tip a few years ago to just use Witch Hazel and I have never looked back. It does great things for your pores, is soothing without irritating and will go with any other products you use.

3 - Apply a serum. Another tip I recieved and have never looked back from is using a face serum prior to moisturing. L'oreal and Biore have good ones and you can use morning or night (or both). I find it ads an extra softness to my skin and has helped improve my skin tone.

4 - Moisturise!!! This is the most improtant step to give your face back its moisture. Use appropriate moisturiser for the time of day i.e. one with an SPF or foundation tint in the mornings and a night time intensive cream at night. I am currently obsessing over Aveeeno's "Positively Radiant" face moisturiser in the morning and Palmers "Facial Moisturiser Cream with Vitamen E" for night time.

No matter what time your going to bed or how you feel, it is really important to do this morning and night.

I'm 19 dating a 23 year old who told me after the first few dates that he's been married before. Since I'm only 19 this has never been an issue before and I can't help but be bothered by it. We've only been together 4 months but have already said that we love eachother and can see us having a future, and he's dated since then and said he felt nothing until he met me. He has been very honest so I don't doubt what he tells me but I can't feel the same excitement he does knowing he's done all this before with someone else. It somehow takes anything special from it because I'd always have that in my mind. Has anyone been in a similar position and knows how to get past it? I've talked to him and he says he wants to find a way to get past it. When we're together it just works and I may get bothered when I'm reminded but ultimately know I care for him. It's usually when we're apart I get all worked up about it.

Sex before marriage?

A new study has found that couples that wait to have sex after they marry have a better marriage and sex life. The American study found that relationships tend to be much more stable and satisfying for those who do not have sex before marriage, with a higher level of happiness in their sex lives.

Experts say that this could be due to improved communication and understanding the importance of focusing on all aspects of a relationship.

What do you think? Do you know any couples who have abstained before marriage?

The research also found three quarters of female respondents believe it is difficult to be in a highly paid executive role and raise a family.
I've thought about mine, and it boils down to:
- Aveeno Positively Radiant Facial Moisturiser - this product is divine, and I'm sure most Shesaid readers who have trialled the Aveeno products would agree!
- Prestige Skin-Loving Minerals foundation powder - my HG foundation!
- Bloom 10-set brush kit - An excellent brush set that meets all my needs. Yay!
- Shu Uemura eyelash curler - probably one of the best out there?

So really, all the products we have had our eyes on, but are just too expensive, are a little more affordable now! I picked up two foundations (clinique even better makeup SPF 15, and YSL radiant brush foundation), YSL radiant touch concealer, Chloe EDP. clinique UVA/UVB SPF 50, diorshow iconic mascara, benefit high beam and moon beam and benefit coralista and all for under $300. (you get an extra 5% discount if you join their loyalty club – it’s free and quick). So all up I got 30% off which makes it the cheapest I have ever found online. Oh and free shipping! The code is thankyou09 and the sale ends on the 3rd of November. I think I will squeeze in some xmas shopping too.
